2016 DALLAS COUNTY-WIDE VOTERS REGISTRATION KICK-OFF
Dallas, TX—July 27th, 2016 The Dallas Examiner, Be Great Magazine, and The Dallas Weekly join the Dallas County Civic Alliance, a coalition of emerging community leaders and local organizations in a collaborative city wide initiative to improve voter turnout in Dallas County. Millennials from across DFW collaborate to tackle one of the county’s most long standing and pertinent issues.
The 2016 Dallas County-wide Voters Registration kick-off will be held at the African America Museum on August 29, 2016 6pm-9pm. The event will kick off with a meet and greet at 6pm with access to voter registration tables, a live voter booth demo featuring a customize ballot for raffles, and engaging voter education games for attendees. The Dallas County elections office will also be hosting an open deputy registrar seminar that will being promptly at 7pm.There will be a brief ceremony lead but Dallas County Elections Administrator, Toni Pippins-Poole and special guest speaker shortly after.
According to the Dallas County Elections Department, all voters must be registered by October 24th, 2016 and early voting for the Presidential Election begins October 28th, 2016. As a collective, we plan to increase our voter turnout percentage in comparison to past election periods, increase voter information through our media partner platforms, and continue ongoing action on voter turnout for general and local election periods.

In addition to the event, leading up to November 8 Presidential Election, the DCCA will be focused on efforts to strategize and improve low voter turnout in the following areas:
- Community Engagement
- Transportation and Mobilization
- Research and Development
- Policy and Voter Laws
- Social Media awareness
To join this collective initiative we are looking for:
- Volunteers– Citizens who are willing to serve in support of partnering organizations in efforts such as neighborhood canvassing, voter registration booth, deputy registrar training, issue awareness advocacy and social media awareness.
- Community Partners– Organizations currently involved in GOTV efforts, media agencies, churches, schools, community development corporations, and transportation services for residents to get to polling stations during early and general election.
- Sponsors– Public or Private support of monetary or in-kind donations for voter awareness events and items such as water, snacks, and miscellaneous materials to support our community partners.
