Builders of Hope Community Development Corporation under the leadership of President/CEO, James Armstrong III, have received a $400,000 PRO Neighborhoods Planning Grant award to TREC Community Fund and Builders of Hope CDC from JP Morgan Chase. The planning grant will provide a road map for equitable development and help target neighborhoods in West Dallas (census Tract 205) grow.  The overall goal is to leverage the work of the Comprehensive Housing Policy and the principals of equitable development to bring capital for implementation of projects in each neighborhood. James Armstrong stated, “This marks a new beginning for Builders of Hope, I am proud to see us moving forward”.

Builders of Hope CDC is a Christian Ministry transforming Dallas urban areas by building strong families and healthy, safe neighborhoods through discipleship, community pride, and development of quality affordable housing.

Builders of Hope CDC continues to serve the West Dallas area, while at the same time has expanded its services to Pleasant Grove and Oak Cliff area. History In 1982, Voice of Hope Ministries (VOHM) was started to provide youth and families in West Dallas with resources and skills to overcome poverty. Voice of Hope Ministries’ programs included Bible clubs, after-school tutoring, summer day camps, recreation, SAT and college prep classes, life skills, emergency assistance, and a thrift store. Additionally, VOHM operated a housing development program. In order to separate its housing activities from its ministry activities, the Voice of Hope Ministries Board of Directors decided to form a separate corporation called Voice of Hope Community Development Corporation. In November 1998, the new corporation received its 501 C-3 tax exemption from the IRS.
